BMyLullaby online maternity and nursing clothing store has successfully launched this October. The company concentrates on clothing with secret zippers that enable moms to feed a baby or pump without taking their clothes off. The founders of the store are two mothers, Veronika and Olga. We asked them to answer a few questions to get an insight on their story.
What does being a business owner mean to you and why did you become an entrepreneur in the first place?
[Olga]: Being a business owner means a few things for me – ability to develop and implement my ideas and vision in real life, opportunity to bring value to people by providing them with something that is in demand on the market, the option to make my own schedule, and spend time with my family.
How did you come across your idea?
[Veronika]: My son was born in winter, so when I tried to breastfeed him in public places I found out that I will need special nursing clothes and the market offered very limited options. I ordered a custom dress with secret zippers and fell in love with it. I wanted to share this idea and help other nursing moms by making their breastfeeding journey easier and more convenient.
Since you are also a mom… How do you balance your personal and professional life?
[Olga]: The option to have flexible work schedule is very valuable for me. I can spend the morning cuddling with my girls, then bring them to their activities and take an active part in their lives each and every day. At the same time I can still develop and grow professionally by working when the girls are busy in class, taking a nap or my husband is watching them.
What makes you different from everyone else?
[Veronika]: Our clothing is mostly made from natural materials. Most of our dresses and tops have secret zippers or secret flaps that enable women to breastfeed or pump anywhere convenient for them. We have affordable prices. The clothing we offer can be worn during pregnancy and while breastfeeding or pumping. We offer professional dresses and tops that working moms can wear.
Have you made any adjustments to your personal and professional life to juggle these two roles?
[Olga]: Actually yes, personally I don’t really like to take my time from the girls during the day, so I usually try to work a lot in the evenings once everybody is asleep. This definitely makes me more organized and efficient to make sure I use my time the most effectively.
What is the greatest obstacle you have faced in achieving the success you desire? How do you overcome it?
[Veronika]: After busy days with my son, I lacked energy to do anything else and I also started getting migraines. My doctor recommended me to get regular sleep and this one small adjustment helped me tremendously.
What advice would you give entrepreneurs that want to start their own company?
We would like to tell them to have courage and love what you do!
