A healthy relationship with pregnancy cravings
“I really don’t care about ice cream or any processed sugar sweets,” says Christie Groot of her pregnancy cravings. She and her husband live a relatively healthy and active lifestyle and hope to continue when baby boy arrives. When it comes to cravings in the middle of the night, Christie says her husband knows that regardless of what she asks for, what she really wants is either pickles, pickles, and pickles, or crunchy organic gala apples. Though she says she is a total foodie, junk food is not on the menu; “I’m more of a homemade vegan junk food kind of person”.
At 5’11” and full figured, this mama-to-be knows that functionality and presentation will be a necessity when it comes to getting dressed. She knows that having a source where a new mom can get a lot of information on fashion and beauty, not to mention postpartum realities, is incredibly helpful.
Having just finished nursing school with about a month to go before the due date, she is hoping to complete her final exam before the baby arrives. Regardless of the timing, the Groots are looking forward to becoming parents for the first time and being able to hold their son in their arms.
