The most important items that will help you through the summer
It is almost that time of the year! Sunny, hot, longer days are ahead of us. The most anticipated season is around the corner which means we need to step up our makeup game. From SPF, to makeup trends and the best waterproof products, we’ve got you covered.
Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
When it comes to beauty and summer, the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) must have the leading role in our beauty routine. It is not a secret that as much as we love a more bronzy complexion, UV radiation (aka sunlight) is not meant to be taken lightly. In fact, excessive sun exposure is harmful and proven to be cancerous to our skin. In addition, we also need to pay special attention to our hair and lips, which are often neglected and are equally exposed. There is a wide range of products that give us the benefit of sun protection and brands that offer entire lines of products intended for this matter; I recently discovered Supergoop! A beauty brand that offers SPF (and a fair amount of it) in all of their products.
Makeup trends
During the hot summer days, makeup tendencies are all about natural, glowing looking skin and bright colors. This year Neon colors are the main attraction which paired with a bronzy, dewy skin, is a match made in heaven! So, leave the heavy foundations behind and opt for a tinted moisturizer which will let your skin peak through, pair it with a soft cream highlighter, pop a bright shadow in the under-eye and get ready to have the best summer memories (and selfies!). BH Cosmetics offers the brightest colors in eye shadow palettes that are perfect for summerish looks, at a very affordable price!
Waterproof Products
Now let’s get real, makeup and water/sweat are enemies! That’s why summer is the perfect moment to load your waterproof products. No matter the season, longer, fuller lashes are a must! Lash paradise Mascara by L’Oréal allows you to achieve this, even during beach outings! Another go-to product is a water-resistant liner, JCat Beauty offers eyeliners in a variety of colors that will have you rocking your wing all summer long.
Tip:
Don’t forget about the skin in your eyelids, this skin is thinnest in our whole body which makes it more vulnerable. I recommend this Cream Shadow with SPF from Supergoop! You can also use it as a base and even as highlighter on your cheek bones.
Tip:
Sun heat dries and breaks the strands of your hair, prevent the sun damage by incorporating hair products with sun protection. I personally love this Leave-in conditioner and Protective Shine from Bamboo Beach.
Tip:
To get that dewy, glowy skin finish use a Sunscreen that is gel based as a primer! I enjoy the Supergoop! Glow Stick Sunscreen SPF 50.
